PG300i
Precision spectrometry for
the future of horticulture.
A NEW ERA OF LIGHT INTELLIGENCE.
Light determines the direction of growth. Every plant responds to a unique combination of wavelengths, intensities, and spectral ratios. In modern horticulture, light is no longer a secondary factor. It has become one of the most critical variables in plant physiology. This is exactly why the PG300i was developed.
The PG300i is not a simple improvement of existing meters. It introduces an entirely new class of instrument: a compact and scientifically reliable VIS spectrometer that gives growers, researchers, and manufacturers complete confidence and control over their lighting environment. What once required complex tools or time-consuming analysis is now accessible, accurate, and immediately usable.
MAKING SCIENCE ACCESSIBLE, ONE MEASUREMENT AT A TIME
Every measurement performed by the PG300i, whether PPFD, PFD or a full spectral power distribution, is captured through a high-precision CCD sensor with a wavelength detection range from 350 to 800 nanometers. This range covers the full horticultural VIS spectrum and provides exceptional sensitivity in the regions that matter most for plant growth and development.
The instrument continuously optimizes its measurement stability through automatic shutter control and automatic dark calibration. This eliminates environmental variability that often leads to errors in less advanced systems. As a result, the PG300i delivers reproducible and trustworthy data, whether used in a controlled laboratory environment or in the dynamic conditions of active grow facilities.
ENGINEERED FOR TODAY’S HORTICULTURE PROFESSIONALS
Traditional spectrometers can be heavy, slow or unnecessarily complicated. The PG300i takes a different approach. It is compact, lightweight and remarkably intuitive. The user interface focuses only on what is essential: clear spectral graphs, precise numerical values and clean, logical navigation. It removes distractions and presents information in a way that supports fast decision-making. Users can choose a Standard Mode for quick, streamlined readings or an Expert Mode for more advanced analytical work. The PG300i adapts just as easily to a consultant in the field as to a researcher conducting controlled scientific trials. Because horticulture often requires measurements in elevated or restricted locations, the system also supports a wireless sensor that can be operated remotely. This makes it particularly suitable for multi-layer cultivation racks, greenhouse installations and overhead fixtures that cannot be accessed directly.

DATA THAT INSPIRES CONFIDENCE
Many measuring devices restrict access to data through proprietary software or locked ecosystems. The PG300i takes the opposite direction. All data can be exported directly to Excel, including full spectral graphs, PPFD and PFD results, detailed intensity distributions and advanced plant-physiological light parameters. This ensures transparent, shareable and reproducible analysis without the need for dedicated software. For integrated installations, the instrument supports MODBUS RS485 communication, enabling smooth connection with PLC systems in research labs, production lines and automated growing environments.FOR PROFESSIONALS WHO REFUSE UNCERTAINTY
The PG300i is designed for those who require absolute reliability. Research laboratories, universities, lighting manufacturers, auditors, consultants, greenhouse operators and indoor farming pioneers will find the PG300i perfectly suited for environments where accuracy is essential. Its European calibration process, high-clarity 3.5 inch capacitive color display, long battery life and durable construction make it ready for continuous use in both scientific and commercial applications.SUPPORT THAT MEETS PROFESSIONAL EXPECTATIONS
Every PG300i includes European calibration, a one-year standard warranty and lifetime firmware updates at no additional cost. For users seeking further protection, an optional three-year extended warranty and full product replacement insurance is available.
To ensure that every measurement receives the attention it deserves, users benefit from direct personal support from a specialist within 24 hours. Support is handled by engineers who understand the instrument, not by call centers.

Each unit is delivered as a complete professional package that includes the instrument itself, a shock-resistant hardcase with a pressure valve, an aluminum tripod, an extended measurement stick with mounting bracket, a touch pen, a powerbank, a USB-C cable for data transfer and charging, a microfiber cleaning cloth and a QR label linking to OBSIDIAN instructional videos and manuals.PG300i BECAUSE LIGHT IS THE KEY TO GROWTH
With the PG300i, science becomes practical, data becomes clear and growth becomes predictable. It is the ideal instrument for anyone who strives to understand, optimize and excel in today’s horticultural landscape.
THE POWER OF FREEDOM:
A remotely operated
detachable sensor head.
A BREAKTHROUGH IN OPTICAL MEASUREMENT
One of the most defining innovations within the PG300i ecosystem is the detachable sensor head, a breakthrough that fundamentally reshapes how professionals measure light. Instead of maneuvering an entire handheld instrument into place, users can position the sensor independently and operate it completely from the base platform. This creates a new level of freedom, precision and control that sets the PG300i apart from traditional spectrometers. What may appear as a convenience feature is, in practice, a transformative leap in workflow efficiency, measurement accuracy and user safety.TRUE STAND ALONE FUNCTIONALITY
The sensor head is engineered as a fully capable stand alone unit. It can operate either wired or wireless depending on the user’s environment and needs. In a wired configuration, the USB C connection provides stable power and continuous data transfer. In wireless mode, Bluetooth communication enables precise measurements from a distance without any physical interaction. Regardless of how it is connected, the sensor maintains the same level of scientific reliability. It can be placed inside luminaires, within multi layer growing systems or directly at canopy height without moving the main device.WIRELESS CONTROL FROM THE BASE PLATFORM
A defining advantage of the PG300i is that the detachable sensor head remains fully controllable from the base instrument. Users can initiate measurements, adjust settings and monitor real time data remotely. This capability allows readings in locations that are difficult, time consuming or unsafe to access. The PG300i becomes the central command platform, while the sensor acts as a precision satellite collecting data exactly where it matters most.
CONNECTIVITY BUILT FOR PROSESSIONAL ENVIRONMENTS
The detachable sensor head is equipped with a complete suite of modern communication options. Bluetooth supports wireless and mobile operation. USB C provides high speed data transfer and continuous power delivery. MODBUS RS485 makes integration with PLC systems and automated environments effortless. This range of connectivity positions the PG300i perfectly for scientific research, horticultural operations, quality control workflows and industrial monitoring.
OPTIMIZED FOR REAL WORLD MEASUREMENT SCENARIOS
To enhance its practical use, the detachable sensor head can be mounted on the included aluminum tripod for stable, fixed position measurements. For extended reach or overhead applications, the sensor can be positioned on the extended measuring stick with its dedicated bracket. This allows users to capture readings above cultivation tables, deep inside lighting structures or across vertical rack systems with minimal effort. When long duration measurements are required, the sensor head can be powered directly by the included powerbank, ensuring extended operation during prolonged research sessions, continuous monitoring or fieldwork away from fixed power sources. These accessories transform the sensor head into an adaptable, professional grade measurement tool capable of meeting any environmental challenge, from greenhouse aisles to laboratory setups and elevated lighting structures.“This isn’t simply
a feature.
It’s the future of light
measurement.“
ACCESSING THE INACCESSIBLE
By separating the sensor from the main instrument, entirely new measurement possibilities emerge. Heights, confined spaces, delicate crop zones or heavily illuminated fixtures can be assessed safely and easily. The sensor goes directly to the light source while the user remains comfortably positioned at the base platform. This approach not only improves measurement accuracy but also significantly enhances safety, ergonomics and workflow efficiency.
A NEW STANDARD IN MEASUREMENT FLEXIBILITY
This modular architecture represents the core design philosophy of OBSIDIAN, which is freedom where it matters and precision where it counts. No competing system offers a detachable, remotely operated, stand alone sensor head with wireless control, industrial connectivity and full integration with tripod solutions, extension tools and portable power. The PG300i establishes a new benchmark for what professionals can expect from a spectrometer, an instrument that adapts effortlessly to the user, the application and the environment.
